Hi! I’m Danika, the founder of the For the One Who Finds Me project. Usually I like to stay behind the scenes, but it also feels important to share the story of the origin of this kindness endeavor through flowers. Nearly two years ago I was feeling sad, alone, and overwhelmed with life finding myself single parenting and trying to heal from a divorce. I decided to try a novel combination of Found art and random acts of kindness when I left a tiny bouquet with a note on the front steps of my apartment building. Within an hour someone discovered it, tagged it on Instagram and said it made their day. It helped turn my day around too. Two years later more than 500 bouquets have been placed with the help of amazing flower ninjas around the US and overseas. Next week I’ll lead a workshop with 40 school counselors who will bring this project to preteens and teens in schools. Every moment is an opportunity to choose kindness.
